Ariel Winter Revealed Her Freckles in the Cutest Makeup-Free Photos

When Ariel Winter isn’t on set playing Alex Dunphy in Modern Family, she’s frequently seen in super-glam looks that incorporate bold lips colors, smoky eyes, and full-coverage foundation. However, in a new series of photos posted to Instagram on Friday, we get to see an adorable new side of the actor (and a few adorable dogs, too).

Winter attended an event for the DoVE Project, a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs from the dog-meat trade and brings them to the U.S., where she helped welcome four new dogs who need loving homes. “They are so loving despite the treatment they suffered… They deserve homes that will show them that they are worthy of being loved and having a family. The dove project is doing incredible work to raise awareness, end the trade & save the pups,” she wrote in a caption accompanying several pictures of her with the incredible cute dogs. “I’m grateful that I was able to help💓”

But while the focus of the photos was on the sweet furry friends, it’s impossible to ignore just how fantastic Winter looks without makeup. Perhaps she’s glowing from having a great time with the dogs, but her skin is absolutely stunning, thanks in part to a splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks — freckles we don’t usually see when she’s wearing a full face of makeup.

These photos also mark only the second time she’s shared a look at her return to super-dark brown hair. She has spent most of the summer as a redhead, “Dyeing it this color was something I was really excited to do. At first, I was nervous. But the day after I dyed it, I felt like a different person. I walked past my bathroom mirror and was like, ‘Oh my god! Who’s in my bathroom?’ And it was literally me. But I love it. It’s my favorite style I’ve done so far.” But as gorgeous as it looked, it appears she’s opting for her natural color to finish filming the final season of Modern Family.
